Buccaneers Nike Color Rush Uniform Photo Shoot

Buccaneers Nike Color Rush Uniform Photo Shoot
This season Nike and the NFL partnered to release new Color Rush uniforms for teams playing late-season Thursday Night Football games. I had the chance to photograph the new Tampa Bay Buccaneers Color Rush jerseys during an on-location studio advertising shoot with Jameis Winston and Mike Evans prior to the Buccaneers Thursday night matchup with the St. Louis Rams. The new jerseys are a photographer’s dream. They’re crafted in a radiant shade of Bucs red with reflective numbers that pop when hit by strobes. It’s hard to imagine a better looking third jersey option for the Buccaneers. Nike, the Buccaneers...

Lights on Tampa 2015

Lights on Tampa 2015
One of the best art events of the year is the annual Lights on Tampa celebration in Downtown Tampa. In preparation for this year’s event I was luckily enough to be selected by the wonderful people at the City of Tampa Art Programs to photograph performance artist Nick Cave and his colorful and energetic sound suits to help publicize the event. The sound suits are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I can only imagine the visual impact of a heard of synchronized horses and dancers in sound suits parading through downtown’s Curtis Hixon Park. For our PR shoot with Nick...

University Donor Portraits for USF

University Donor Portraits for USF
This week the University of South Florida in Tampa received a $10 million gift from retired St. Petersburg businesswoman Lynn Pippenger. The school renamed the accountancy school at USF’s Muma College of Business the “Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy.” A couple weeks prior to the announcement I had the opportunity to make an official portrait of Ms. Pippenger (above) for the university. The portrait was distributed to local media, used on brochures about the school of accountancy and throughout university publications. Academic and university photography assignments are usually some of the most enjoyable jobs I shoot. You always learn something...

NFL Photography: New Look Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFL Photography: New Look Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers open the 2014 NFL season with a new logo, new jerseys, new coach, new GM and more than a handful of new players on the field. All those new elements made for a dizzying offseason of photo shoots. Working as the team photographer I had the chance to photograph the coaches, players and new jerseys on the field and in the studio. The uniforms pop, the coaches are the ultimate professionals and the players are relaxed but intensely driven. Keep an eye on this team – and not just for the stylish new Nike jerseys. The...

Derrick Brooks Set the Bar High – For All of Us

Derrick Brooks Set the Bar High - For All of Us
As I prepare to head to Canton, Ohio this weekend to celebrate the induction of Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks into the Pro Football Hall of Fame I’ve been thinking a lot about the 80 Sundays that I spent photographing #55 on the football field. But as I looked back over the photos from Derrick’s years as a Buccaneer, one set of images reminded me why Derrick will always be my favorite NFL player of all time and why he is also one of the greatest men I’ve ever known. In June of 2005 I boarded a plane to...
